Abstract:
This disclosure proposes a monitor or display that can either display as a normal screen or split to upper/bottom side. Upper side could turn to face to the customer and bottom side could remain facing the cashier.
Background:
There is one scenario that we might need to show some information to the customers and in current implementation, you have to have a 2nd display or 2x20 display facing the customer. The drawback is the need for additional space or a 2nd stand for supporting this second display.
Once we have to implement the 2nd display, we will need to implement this on all the POS systems at additional cost for each checkout lane. It might not be cost efficient for Retail.
Description:
Our idea is to have one single display but is physically composed of two individual display units. It is presented as one single display facing to the customer side with some mechanical and software efforts. And the upper side of the display could be able to turn facing the customer side by rotating it 180 degrees. There will be one sensor implemented in the upper part of the display to detect the rotation angle and the sensor will notify the software to accomplish the work for showing the correct content to the customer.
The bottom side will also switch to the proper content while the upper side is rotated to the other side and it could also be done by the software effort. The benefit for this approach could save the tremendous space / cost of the 2nd display and stand and provide a better appearance on the table top.
