Toshiba Earns Top Honor for Newly-Introduced System 7 Self-Checkout
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions (TGCS), a global market share leader for integrated in-store retail solutions, affirms its technology leadership by earning the Triangle Business Journal 2018 Innovation in Business Award. Toshiba received this distinction within the retail category for its newly-introduced Self Checkout System 7, continuing the company’s focus on innovation within a solutions category wherein Toshiba increased its market share by 50 percent year-over-year according to research and consulting company, RBR.
Triangle Business Journal's (TBJ's) Innovation in Business Awards honor the North Carolina Research Triangle Park region's most innovative companies in multiple categories from healthcare and retail to professional services and education. Toshiba’s System 7 innovative self-service platform is designed, manufactured, marketed and distributed to retailers globally through the company's Durham, N.C. location.
"This award is a true testament to the effort and dedication companies such as Toshiba put into innovation," said Jason Christie President and Publisher Triangle Business Journal. "In this fast-paced world, and in a sector that is seeing so much disruption like retail, platforms such as Self Checkout System 7 could become must-haves. Triangle Business Journal is proud to award Toshiba with this honor."
Everyone involved in the design, manufacturing, sales and marketing of Toshiba's System 7 is honored to receive Triangle Business Journal's Innovation in Business Award," stated Bill Melo, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions chief marketing executive.
"Our global retail clients and partners are eager to work with Toshiba to create a more seamless, personalized self-service experience while significantly reducing customer wait times and streamlining operations. System 7 enables Toshiba to handle the specific needs our clients require."
Toshiba's re-imagined, self-service platform enables retailers to create a more personalized in-store experience by combining three innovative form factors (cash-recycling, cashless, and kiosk) allowing retailers to tailor the front-end of stores according to their customer, floor space, and operational needs. Toshiba's System 7 additionally equips stores for the future by presenting a customizable solution to help global retailers meet the demands of the modern shopper. Toshiba's self-checkout allows modules to be added or reconfigured to address a store’s specific needs and offers reliability, security and investment protection while also addressing compliance standards.
Toshiba's product management, engineering, human factors specialists, industrial design and professional services staff continuously collaborates with global clients to carefully understand and address the current and dynamic challenges retailers face. Toshiba also invited shoppers to its Research Triangle Park labs for direct observation and data collection to create intuitive interactions. In addition, Toshiba supplemented these insights with primary consumer research surveying 4,100 shoppers to understand behaviors and preferences. This input provided Toshiba with the intelligence needed to optimize System 7 while delivering a favorable experience for both shoppers and retailers.
