Toshiba's Tunnel to Tower 2023 team

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is proud to continue its support and sponsorship of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation with an impressive donation of $34,492 supporting this year’s run/walk commemorating the sacrifices of first responders on 9/11. This is Toshiba’s third year sponsoring and supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and reflects the company’s commitment to the community.

“Our VALOR Employee Resource Group (ERG) has been a vital force in driving our partnership with Tunnels to Towers. This has been a remarkable journey of solidarity with a great cause in support of the families who sacrificed the most in serving our country,” said Rance Poehler, President and CEO of Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions. “It was wonderful to see the number of Toshiba team members participating by donating or joining our team on the 5k walk/run race.”

"In the company’s three years supporting the Tunnel to Towers foundation, the company has donated over $87,000 to the foundation,” said Dora Merrick, Senior Product Manager and Tunnels to Towers Team Lead at Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions. “This year, out of 552 total racers, the Toshiba team showed exceptional talent and drive, securing seven first, second, and third place finishes across all age brackets."

Michael Julian, the executive sponsor of Toshiba’s Veterans VALOR ERG and an active-duty veteran and former member of the Army Reserve said, “I am honored that Toshiba is actively engaged in supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the foundation's noble mission. Meeting our obligations to our veterans is one thing, but the dedication and support Toshiba provides to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation puts us in a special place as a responsible corporate citizen. Our commitment to this cause is unwavering, and we are proud to be part of the effort to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these heroes and their families.”

VALOR is one of Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions’ four ERGs focused on creating and maintaining a culture of welcoming and belonging. The other ERGs are the Women’s Network, BLAAC (Black, Latino, African American, and Caribbean), and the South Asian Community. Toshiba’s leadership believes a more diverse workforce will support innovation and progress across the organization, and its efforts have seen marked gains across hiring. The company continues to grow and evolve its diversity and inclusivity efforts, which are important to employees and the community.

Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries out its mission to “do good,” by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.
