Abstract:
An system is proposed that utilizes a car's Heads Up Display to project and interact with a Store's drive through ordering system in a way that allows a customer to order and pay for the food or other products they are purchasing. The intention is to make ordering quicker and more convenient for the customer and increase the throughput for the Retailer.

Background:
Sometimes when you go to use the Drive-Thru order food and you find a little bit of car jam.
The car jam seems mostly to be caused by customers trying to decide what food they want to order. In summer the weather is hot, you need to use air conditioning and thereby waste more gas. Today cars have a lot of new tech such as  Android Auto , Apple Car Play ,HUD(Heads Up Display) and AR(Augmented Reality). We can combine these new technologies to speed up the drive-thru order system.

Description:

To produce this new system we will need the following:

  • A restaurant internal WiFi system and car system app (to communicate with ARHUD)
  • When car enters the WiFi area, there will pop-up a message in car  for the customer to allow link to order system
  • The customer will enter the pin code into the system and HUD will project the order onto the Windshield and it  will become a big AR screen
  • Select your food and pay, and the system will provide a pick up number
  • Drive to the pick up window, pick up the food and complete the drive-thru
