Abstract:
This disclosure proposes a new powered usb connector that can transform from standard USB type A to Powered USB connector

Background:
We used to have two separate cables offered for TGCS I/O modules to support our customers. Some want to plug the IO

module in using a standard USB type A connector and some want to use the Powered USB connector.

It brings a heavy burden on our inventory management and we spend a lot of cost maintaining these two types of cables.

Description:
Our idea is to design a universal connector that can support both Powered USB connectors and can be transformed to a standard USB type A connector. (and vice versa). Please review the Figure below. This connector that once the latch being locked, it will be a powered USB connector. If you want it to be a standard USB type A connector, you can insert into a standard USB type a connector the latching portion will slide out of the way.  We will be able to reduce our part number and also reduce inventory management cost. Also, our customers will also see a benefit for their own cable management.
