Abstract:
This disclosure proposes using the Security Scale in concert with cameras for recognition to charge for produce and eliminate the more expensive Bi-Optic Scanner Scale.
Background:
The existing bi-optic scanner scale is expensive, big, and heavy. It drives complication in the mechanical layout of our current SCO system. We need another method to charge for produce.
Description:
Use the existing security scale as a weights and measures scale. It’s small and is 5% the price of a bi-optic scanner scale. The process would start with the produce recognition, confirm the produce item i.e., apple. That would switch the scale out of security mode into weights and measures mode to gather the delta weight. If no more produce is recognized, then it could switch back to security mode. Alt: It could be purely a weight scale without security.
