Abstract:
A system is proposed to scan the barcode label on any surface on the goods, so that the user does not need to flip or rotate the goods when scanning the barcode.
Background:
When people are scanning barcodes at the checkout counter, they normally take the time to find the location of the barcode on the product. The solution is to reduce the time needed to find the barcode when scanning.
Description:
There is a camera above the counter top. The camera is facing towards the counter top.
There is a bowl shaped depression in the counter, the top edge is aligned with the counter top. The surface of the bowl can reflect the image of the barcode to the camera at the top.
The bottom surface of the bowl is glass. There are two mirrors under the glass, the mirror can reflect the barcode at the bottom surface of the product to the camera at the top.
When the product is placed in the bowl, the barcode on any surface of the product can be reflected back to the camera, then the barcode can be recognized.
